I thought it may be a good idea for us to give each other some ideas....
Maybe we can make this like a thread. I don't know just an idea. So here is my first suggestion.
For those that do not have anything like this, I would suggest looking into a power station.
I would recommend getting something like one of these if you can afford one, various sizes available and some offer payments via affirm. They do not come with solar panels. What I do is charge it up via electricity so it's ready and then if we have anything long term we can recharge with solar. I have had to use these being in CA we have planned blackouts often in the summer. So to be able to work, I need to have something like this. I have a few. So after I use it, I charge it back up. There are many companies but two of the ones I have came from Ecoflow, Jackery were all sold out when I bought one of mine so I went with Ecoflow and liked it so I got a bigger one from them. There are a lot of others on Amazon but I spent months looking into them and prices are about the same no matter brand. Jackery have great reviews and I can say Ecoflow works great! I like these over regular generators because you can recharge with solar and no need to store gas or worry about gas. I need to secure mine in a faraday still but I would also suggest storing in something to protect against emp damage. There are plenty of tutorials on how to make one, I have not gotten around to it so I may just buy a few but making them is a cheaper option. If SHTF having something like this would be wise. I also have a few small electric cooking appliances that I can use with it if needed. Fans, air conditioners, these are the type of things people should think about. I see a lot talking about how to stay warm but never anything on stayin cool in an outage situation.. One of the models I have can run air conditioners. You do need to check specs before you buy so you know what it can and cannot run.
